The exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in plants takes place by two process- Photosynthesis and Respiration. there are some difference between Photosynthesis and Respiration.
Photosynthesis | Respiration |
Food is synthesized by plants using carbon dioxide and water in the process of Photosynthesis. | Food is oxidized using oxygen to release energy in the process of Respiration. |
Photosynthesis takes palace only in Autotrophs. | Respiration takes place in both Autotrophs and Heterotrophs. |
Photosynthesis takes place only in the cells of green plants that have chloroplasts. | Respiration takes place in the mitochondria of all the cells of a plant. |
Photosynthesis takes place only during day time. | Respiration takes place during both day and time. |
In the process of Photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water required. | In the process of Respiration, glucose and oxygen required. |
Oxygen is released as a by product in the process of Photosynthesis. | Carbon dioxide and water is released as by product in the process of Respiration. |
Photosynthesis captures energy and stores it in sugar. | Respiration releases the energy stored in sugars. |
