What is Golgi Apparatus?

Golgi apparatus is the membrane-bound organelle of eukaryotic cells. It is made up of a group of microscopic tubules and sacs. Proteins and other substances synthesized by the cell are packaged in the form of vesicles in the Golgi Apparatus. These vesicles transport the substance to the destination. If a substance is secreted outside the cell, vesicles containing that substance push it out through the cell membrane. Golgi Apparatus is also called the transport manager of the molecules of the cell. They also form the cell wall and lysosomes.

Golgi Apparatus

Golgi apparatus is also known as Golgi complex or Golgi body. It was discovered by a scientist named Camillo Golgi. It was named Golgi after him.
