Cell theory is a scientific theory which states that cells form the building blocks of life. Cell theory was proposed by two scientists German botanist Matthias Schleiden and British zoologist Theodor Schwann in 1838.
Following are the main points of the cell theory:
- Every living being originates from a single cell.
- The body of every living being is made up of one or more than one cells.
- Each cell is an independent unit, but all cells work together to form an organism.
- A nucleus is the main worker in the process by which the cell is formed.
