What is Bacteria?

The entire body of Bacteria is made up of a single cell. Cell wall is found around it. The Cell Membrane lies beneath the Cell wall. The Cell Membrane is made of Proteins and Phospholipids. Its Cytoplasm lacks Mitochondria, Endoplasmic Reticulum and other developed cell organelles. It lacks Centriole and Chromosomes. Primary type of nucleus is found in Bacteria which is called Nucleoid. Hair and flagella are also found in Bacteria. They help Bacteria in reproduction, nutrition and reproduction.

What is Bacteria?

There are several types of Bacteria on the basis of shape:

  • Some Bacteria are rod-shaped or cylindrical shaped.
  • Some Bacteria are spherical shaped. These types of bacteria are the smallest. On the basis of cell configuration, these are also of tree types– Micrococcus, Diplococcus and Streptococcus.
