The entire development of a plant takes place through the tissues present in the plant. The plant tissue is divided into two parts- Meristematic tissue and Permanent tissue.
Meristematic tissue | Permanent tissue |
1. Meristematic tissue is made of actively dividing cells. It divides rapidly and continuously. | 1. Permanent tissue is formed by the division of Meristematic tissue, but they do not divide further. |
2. This tissue is found in the growing parts of plants such as root and shoot tips. | 2. This tissue is found almost all parts of the plant such as root, stem and leaves. |
3. It build up the plant body in length and thickness continuously as a result the plant gains height. | 3. It protects the plants from external influence, also gives support and supply water and food materials to all parts of the plant. |
4. There are two types of Meristematic tissues- Apical Meristematic tissue and Lateral Meristematic tissue. | 4. There are two types- Simple Permanent tissue ( Protective tissue and Supporting tissue) and Compex Permanet tissue (Xylem and Phloem) |
